Dear Brauchle!
Hardly had I reached home when I found my brother [Caspar Carl who died in November, 1815] plaintively asking about the horses – Please do me the kindness to go to Lang-Enzersdorf about the horses. Just take horses at Jedlersee at my expense. I shall be extremely delighted to refund you – His illness (my brother’s, I mean) makes him rather restless. Do let us help where we can. At any rate I must act thus and not otherwise! – I expect to have from you an early fulfilment of my request and a friendly reply about his – Spare no expense. I will gladly meet it. It is not worth while to let anyone suffer for the sake of a few wretched gulden –
In haste, your true friend
Beethoven
All my best greetings to the dear Countess.
